⛳️ Adios Nike!

What's next for Tiger?

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

TOURNAMENT NEWS

PGA TOUR

The Sony Open is the second event of the 2024 PGA Tour schedule and will played starting this Thursday in Hawaii.

Waialae Country Club, in Honolulu, has been the host for the Sony Open since the tournament started in 1965 and will host 144 of the best golfers in the world including Sahith Theegla, Hideki Matsuyama, and Ludvig Aberg.

Our pick for the Sony is Si Woo Kim.

He has played the Sony a few times and has a tendency of hitting the top of the leaderboard a few times a year.

If Kim does not play well, look for Chris Kirk to do well this weekend.

He has played the tournament 13 times in the past and has one win in his pocket.

LIV TOUR

LIV will not start its year until the first weekend of February when it will compete with the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

DP TOUR

The Dubai Invitational at the Dubai Creek Golf Club is this weekend for the European Tour, and the event’s headliner, Rory McIlroy, is probably the best player in the world teeing it up this weekend on any tour.

Tommy Fleetwood and Luke Donald will be joining him this weekend in Dubai.

Rory is the best golfer playing this weekend, so expect a good showing from him, especially after dominating the Race to Dubai last year.

LPGA TOUR

We are one week away from the start of the LPGA season.

Tiger Officially Drops Nike

After 27 years, the relationship is over. It was not contentious and it had about the least amount of fanfare you could expect from a breakup of that magnitude, but the Tiger/Nike partnership is no more.

The only person tied to any brand in the world more than Tiger was to Nike was probably Michael Jordan, and that relationship continues to this day.

If I had to guess, I would assume a “Tiger” brand might be coming soon, but who knows!

NEW GOLF GEAR

The Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour features one of the most cushioned soles on the market.

Walking the course in these shoes gives you almost a spring in your step to go along with the waterproof uppers and great traction.

On top of that, Nike continues to be one of the best footwear brands in the world and that does not seem to be changing any time soon, even with Tiger leaving.

There are multiple color options to choose from and they are some of the best looking golf shoes you will find.
