⛳️ Callaway Paradym Driver Mini Review

is it worth the $600 price tag?

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Friday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

FRIDAY GOLF TIP

Four-Ball vs Foursomes

With the Ryder Cup starting the day that this newsletter is released, an explanation of the difference between foursomes and four-ball seems in order.

Both forms of competition will be used on Friday and Saturday, and while they sound quite similar, in practice they are really very different.

Four-Ball: In four-ball, a player and his partner play separate balls on each hole, and the lower score between the two partners is the team’s score on each hole.

For instance, if you double-bogey a par-5 that your partner eagles, your team score for that hole is eagle.

Foursomes: The foursome competition is quite different. In foursomes, a 2-person team plays alternating shots on every hole.

For instance, if partner A hits the tee shot on a par-4, partner B hits the approach.

Golfers also alternates who hits the tee shot.

Every golfer hits 9 tee shots, and it is your turn to tee off if your partner did on the previous hole regardless of who putts the ball in the hole.

COURSE OF THE WEEK

Atlanta Athletic Club

The Atlanta Braves just keep winning, and Ronald Acuna just keeps getting closer and closer to the MVP. In honor of their great season and World Series win, Braves great Greg Maddux’s golf club is today’s feature.

The Atlanta Athletic Club was the home of the 2011 PGA Championship, but it has also served as the home course for Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz among other all-time Braves greats.

It is a beautiful track right in the middle of some of Atlanta’s most prime real estate and surrounded by some great historical artifacts.

The rough is almost impossible to hit out of in tournament conditions, and the greens have some terrific slopes, but it is always one of the best-kept and beautiful golf courses in a city known for great golf.

NEW GEAR MINI REVIEW

When Callaway Golf came out with the Big Bertha driver, it was a game-changer. The new Paradym family of drivers are trying to become the next big thing in golf as the club offers incredible distance without sacrificing forgiveness.

There is an assumption, in the golf world, that the more forgiving a driver is, the less distance it produces.

With the Paradym driver, that theory is beginning to be proved wrong.

The Paradym also looks the part. It looks great in your bag and sets up next to the ball well also.

The carbon-composite construction is ultra light and free of the metal and titanium used in most clubs other than Callaway’s newest version of Jailbreak technology.

Callaway continues to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to create a face structure that gives every inch of the face the best chance possible to hit the ball long and straight.

As far as an overall driver, it is hard to find a better one than the Paradym X.

Pros

  • A great combination of distance and forgiveness.

  • The club face produces very little spin so that the ball flies long, straight and true with very little slice or fade.

  • You will most likely hit this driver farther than whatever your current driver is.

  • Jailbreak technology gives you stability and strength behind the ultra thin face so you can hit the ball long and straight.

Cons

  • One of the most expensive drivers out there.

  • The sound and feel is not as strong as some golfers prefer.

Until Monday!
