Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Monday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

TOURNAMENT RECAP

PGA TOUR

Chris Kirk was the big winner on Sunday as he took home The Sentry Championship and the second PGA Tour title in the past year for Kirk.

He held off Jordan Spieth and Sahith Theegala, the first round leader, down the stretch.

Kirk’s tournament winning shot came with a 5-iron from 209 yards out that put three feet from the hole at about the same time Theegala lipped out a putt on the 18th.

Kirk’s short-game, just like in the past, won this tournament as he got up-and-down from just about anywhere.

Our pick for The Sentry, Collin Morikawa, played well most of the weekend and finished T5 in the first PGA Tour event of the 2024 year.

He finished just 4 strokes off the pace that Kirk set and is rounding back into form.

Our other pick, Rickie Fowler, did not fare as well as he ended up in sole ownership of 56th place in a 59-person field.

LIV TOUR

The LIV Tour is still about a month off, but since its newest member, Jon Rahm, was also the defending champion at the PGA Tour event being played, the upstart tour got a lot of publicity.

Rahm’s signing is still the splash of the offseason and will continue to bring the LIV a lot of attention.

DP TOUR

The European Tour will start next weekend.

The LPGA is still a couple of weeks away.
