⛳️ Dad Joke....

back up a 3 iron?!

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Monday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

TOURNAMENT RECAP

PGA TOUR

Erik Van Rooyen won his first tournament since 2021 at the WWT Championship this past weekend, and he did it in dramatic fashion.

He drained a 16-foot eagle putt on the closing hole to win the tournament by 2 strokes over Matt Kuchar.

Van Rooyen and Kuchar were the final pair and they played close all day long, each finishing the final round with a 66.

It was that final hole that put the tournament out of reach for Kuchar who had every opportunity to leave Mexico with a win.

On this Tiger Woods designed course, however, it was Van Rooyen who made the most of his opportunities, and after starting the final day in the lead by 2 strokes, he ended the day in the same position.

Our picks, Cameron Young and Lucas Glover, finished T54 and T59 respectively.

Cameron Young showed up on the leaderboard early and played a great final round, but was never really in contention.

Lucas Glover played at around -3 each round and never flashed.

Both players have a chance to have strong years, but the WWT was not their tournament.

LIV TOUR

There will be no LIV Tour events until calendar year 2024.

DP TOUR

The DP Tour took the week off and will return this Thursday for the NedBank Challenge.

LPGA TOUR

Japan’s Mone Inami won her first ever LPGA Tour event in her home country at the TOTO Championship this past weekend.

After starting Thursday with an opening round 64, Inami never looked back, walking off the course Sunday with a 1-stroke victory.

Third round co leader, Shiho Kuwaki, and Seon Woo Bae both finished at -21 and one shot off the lead.

Inami has won 13 times on the LPGA Tour of Japan, but she has yet to accept the immediate LPGA Tour membership that was offered her after this win.

She has until November 13 to accept.

Our pick for the TOTO, Rose Zhang, played well and finished T15.

You can expect a lot more top-20s and better for the rest of the LPGA season for Zhang who may be the best golfer on tour right now.

GOLF FASHION

Michael Jordan was first a great basketball player, then a cultural icon, and now is one of the best known and loved brands in the world.

He is also a golfer.

The new line of Jordan golf shoes has everything you could want or need for the golf course.

You can find spikes, low tops, high tops, high fashion, retro, or anything else that you may want.

The bottom line is that Jordan golf shoes are some of the most popular in the world.

In future “Fashion” sections, we will look at some of the individual offerings that Jordan Golf has, but for now the most important thing to know is that Jordan Golf shoes are some of the best out there.

We prefer some of the retro basketball style shoes that were made into golf shoes, but there are more traditional offerings as well.

Do not be fooled by the name, these shoes are very comfortable and most of them focus as much on function as they do on fashion.

DAD JOKE OF THE WEEK

Arnold Palmer’s 3 Iron

Arnold Palmer is playing in a big tournament and comes to a par 3 which measures 235 yards.

After some deliberation, he takes out his 3 iron and smashes the ball 20 feet over the pin and backs it up to within 3 feet of the hole.

A fan in the crowd came up to him and said, "Mr. Palmer, how do you make the ball back up like that with a 3 iron?"

Arnold replied, "Do you have a 3 iron?"

The fan said, "Yes sir, I do."

"How far do you hit it?"

"About 160 yards," came the answer.

Arnold calmly said, "What the heck do you want it to back up for?"
