The Great Outdoors

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Monday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

TOURNAMENT RECAP

PGA TOUR

The team of Lydia Ko and Jason Day took home the $1 million prize for winning the Grant Thornhill Invitational this past weekend.

The two were in the lead by a couple of strokes going into the final round and then just held on for dear life as a couple of teams raced to the top.

Both Ko and Day played very well this past weekend, but it was the 17th hole where they shined.

They were tied for the lead at -25 when Day hit his second shot into a green side bunker on the par-5 hole.

Ko hit a beautiful sand shot right on top of the flag and it rolled to about 10 feet where Day knocked home the Eagle.

Our picks for the tournament started Sunday at -18, in second place and just two shots out of the lead.

They finished T4 and 3 shots off the lead as a couple of other twosomes charged toward the top.

The Sagstrom/Aberg tandem shot a final round -12 to finish in second and just one stroke off the lead.

LIV TOUR

There are no LIV Tour events until 2024, but something huge happened anyway.

According to reports, Jon Rahm left the PGA Tour and signed on with LIV for $600 million.

Just in case you missed the second “zero,” Rahm signed for $600 million, far more than he could ever make in 50 years on the PGA Tour.

DP TOUR

The Alfred Dunhill Championship started Thursday and was supposed to end yesterday.

It did not.

Instead, following bad weather, the plan is to finish the Dunhill at some point today.

Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel are currently atop the leaderboard, but there is plenty of more golf to go at the Dunhill.

Our pick, Louis Oosthuizen, is currently sitting in a tie for the lead with fellow South African Charl Schwartzel.

If Oosthuizen were to hold on, he would get to take home another championship from his home country.

LPGA TOUR

Lydia Ko and Jason Day won the Grant Thornton Invitational, check up at the top under the PGA Tour Recap to learn more about this tournament as it combined PGA and LPGA Players together.

GOLF FASHION

There are a lot of expensive golf clothing and apparel stores, but if you are looking to buy some golf clothes at a good price, look no further than Amazon Essentials.

They have a great selection across a wide variety of products, but their golf clothes are especially high quality and inexpensive.

The shirts run a little small, but not bad.

The Amazon Essentials brand of clothing is simple, inexpensive, and high quality.

It was created as a no-frills type of brand that focuses on need and quality rather than style.

While the brand has not been around for a long time, it has proven itself as a niche product that people want and will buy.

Amazon Essentials has definitely carved its place into the culture.

The brand focuses on high quality goods with a great selection and is especially good for people just getting into the game.

DAD JOKE OF THE WEEK

The Great Outdoors

During her physical examination, a doctor asked a retired woman about her physical activity level.

The woman said she spent 3 days a week, every week, in the outdoors.

"Well, yesterday afternoon was typical; I took a five hour walk about 7 miles through some pretty rough terrain. I waded along the edge of a lake. I pushed my way through 2 miles of brambles. I got sand in my shoes and my eyes. I barely avoided stepping on a snake. I climbed several rocky hills. I went to the bathroom behind some big trees. I ran away from an irate mother bear and then ran away from one angry bull elk. The mental stress of it all left me shattered, so I drank a scotch and three glasses of wine."

Amazed by the story, the doctor said, "You must be one heck of an outdoor woman!"

"No," the woman replied, "I'm just a really bad golfer!"
