⛳️ Exciting Changes for Red Birdie Golf!
More value for our readers
Good morning, fellow golfer. We’ve made a decision to shift our focus away from a blog style website to a newsletter publication.
So you might be asking, why the change? Well we’re doing this for a couple reasons:
We feel like we’ll be able to provide better value to you our reader by shifting to this format.
We’re tired of Google and playing the SEO game. As we create more articles we find ourselves being punished by Google and our rankings going lower and lower
Our existing content on the website is not going away anytime soon, so if you found an article you love, you’ll still be able to access it.
However, we won’t be concentrating on writing any new content that will posted to the site.
We hope this format will bring you more value and we thank you for being a loyal reader!
P.S. If you have any feedback or would to see something added to the newsletter, please reply to this email and let us know.
So let’s get into it this week!
Viktor Hovland has had two dominant golf weekends in a row to win the FedEx Cup and an $18 million bonus.
I guess if you are going to play the best golf you have ever played, doing it at the end of the season and to win the Cup is a good time to do it.
He was the no. 2 seed coming in, and a final round 62 cemented his win.
DAD JOKE OF THE WEEK
Arnold Palmer’s Best Tip
This is a great quote by Arnold Palmer about how to shave some strokes off your golf score:
“I have a tip that can take 5 strokes off of anybody’s golf game,” Palmer is quoted as saying. “It’s called an eraser.”
TIP OF THE WEEK
3 Things to Remember When Hitting a 3-wood Off the Tee
Setup is key. Remember to put the ball a couple of inches farther back in your stance.
Tee height is important. Make sure to tee the ball down a little lower for the smaller head on your 3-wood.
Body Position. With your driver you tilt back a little, but with a 3-wood you should be a lot more centered.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
After the FedEx Cup, there is a 2 week break before the Fortinet Championship starting on September 14.
The majors are over and the FedEx Cup has been won, but the end of September will feature the Ryder Cup. U.S. Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson made his final picks to fill out the final 6 spots on the roster.
Koepka, Morikawa, Spieth, Thomas, Burns, and Fowler did just enough to make the final cut.
TOURNAMENT RECAP
The FedEx Cup started with Scheffler at -10 and Hovland just two strokes below him at -8.
It ended with Hovland destroying everyone and Scheffler finished T6. Hovland has been playing historically good golf with some of the low rounds he has had lately.
Our pick for the tournament, Viktor Hovland, won the tournament in dominant fashion.
In fact, his 6-stroke lead going into the final round made this FedEx Cup championship one of the least exciting and least watched ever.
Hovland is playing the best golf of his career and who knows how long he will play this way.
GEAR HIGHLIGHT
The Footjoy Tour X are a great pair of waterproof golf spikes.
They are comfortable, give you great traction, and are perfect for rainy conditions
FootJoy has been the standard in golf shoes for years, and this iteration is no exception.
They even look a little more updated and modern than may of FootJoy’s other options.
Until next week!
