⛳️ Mizuno JPX 923 Forged Mini Review
...like buttah
Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Friday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:
FRIDAY GOLF TIP
Lee Trevino’s Slice Fix
A slice swing comes from an “over-the-top” swing that makes you cut across the ball at varying angles.
Although there are a few ways to get to that “over-the-top” position, one thing that is consistent is that the lead knee gets too straight at the bottom of the swing.
One of Trevino’s tips to fixing the slice is to focus on your lead leg, keep it flexible, and keep your lead kneecap in front of your trail kneecap.
COURSE OF THE WEEK
Atlanta Athletic Club
In honor of the Braves-Phillies series, the Atlanta Athletic Club is our golf course of the month.
The Atlanta Athletic Club was the home of the 2011 PGA Championship, but it has also served as the home course for Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz among other all-time Braves greats.
It is a beautiful track right in the middle of some of Atlanta’s most prime real estate and surrounded by some great historical artifacts.
The rough is almost impossible to hit out of in tournament conditions, and the greens have some terrific slopes, but it is always one of the best-kept and beautiful golf courses in a city and area known for great golf.
NEW GEAR MINI REVIEW
The JPX 923 Forged Irons feature grain-flow-forged 4120 Chromoly (4-7 irons) and 1025E mild carbon steel (8-GW) for some of the softest irons on the market. These are great players distance irons and specifically suited for players with handicaps between 5 and 15.
The face is forged from a super-thin, super strong nickel chromoloy material that gives you incredible ball speed off the face.
Aside from the feel and the ball speed, the club just looks great in your hands. Standing over the ball, the club gives you a sense of confidence that you are going to hit every ball long and accurately.
The Harmonic Impact Technology adds incredible sound and feel to the overall performance of the club.
The JPX Forged line of Mizuno clubs has been one of the most consistent iron sets on the market.
Pros
Mizuno is known for creating irons with a buttery soft feel, and the JPX 923 Forged are the prime example of what the company can do. If feel is what you are looking for, these irons are great.
They look and feel great.
You get really good distance from the nickel chromoloy face, but they also provide good forgiveness as well.
Some of the PGA Tour pros have used these forged clubs without even being sponsored because of how well they perform.
Cons
They are some of the more expensive clubs on the list.
The wedges do not perform as well as some of the other iron sets.
Until Monday!
