Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Friday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

FRIDAY GOLF TIP

Playing In Cold Weather

Playing golf in really cold weather is considerably different than mild, warm, or hot temperatures.

You have to wear more clothes which can change your swing.

It is difficult to find a comfort level which can make it difficult to find your rhythm.

The round even seems longer when you are out on a cold day.

Those things, however, are all psychological.

There is an actual physical difference as well.

A recent study showed that for every 10-degrees below 75, golfers lose about 2 yards for every club in their bag.

So, if you are playing in temperatures below 35-degrees, you could lose as many as 10 yards of carry distance which can be a huge difference with club selection.

COURSE OF THE WEEK

Seminole Golf Club

As the winter months approach, the best golf you can find is places with mild or warm weather all year.

That is exactly what you will find in this no. 1 rated golf course in the state of Florida by Golf Digest, Seminole Golf Club.

It is located just north of West Palm Beach which means you will be south of the cold. It is also one of the most beautiful courses in America.

Seminole is a Donald Ross designed course at a private club that is a great combination of challenging and accessible.

It was also the home of the Walker Cup in 2021 so it has some experience as a championship level golf course.

NEW GEAR MINI REVIEW

The JPSX923 Forged irons are some of the most consistent and appealing clubs on the market.

They do so many things extremely well including a buttery soft feel, great power, good workability, and even good forgiveness.

Other than beginning golfers, there are not many ball strikers who would not find some benefit in these clubs.

They look great at address and have the incredible feel for which Mizuno forged irons are known.

They are different, however, in that they also produce high end power and workability in the same set of irons.

They provide a really good combination of a lot of great features that could appeal to the best golfers in the world and a double digit handicap.

Pros

  • The combination of soft feel and great power is unique in an iron.

  • One of the most consistent irons on the market, the ball will carry and spin as consistently as your swing makes contact.

  • Great workability, it is one of the easiest clubs to control both from a distance and directional standpoint.

  • The chromoly is stronger than ever and gives you great energy transfer at impact.

Cons

  • One of the more expensive Mizuno iron sets.

  • Stronger lofts may not suit low handicappers.

Until Monday!
