who do you got?

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

TOURNAMENT NEWS

PGA TOUR

Weekend PGA Tour events are back!

This weekend is the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, MS and it should be a good tournament.

It is not exactly a “who’s who” in the world of golf, but there are some really good golfers out there joining defending champion Mackenzie Hughes.

Ludvig Aberg and Nicolai Hojgaard will also be teeing it up.

They may not be common names in America at this point, but they both played on the dominant European Ryder Cup team.

Our pick for the weekend is Dylan Wu.

He has consistently been in the top-40 over the past few events, and recently has stepped up his game even more.

In fact, in his last 3 starts, he has a T5 and a T14.

When a player starts playing as consistently as Wu has recently, you can generally expect a few wins to happen soon.

If Wu does not win, look for Mark Hubbard to avenge last year’s collapse as he finished T5 after starting the final round with the lead.

LIV TOUR

The next LIV Golf Tour event will take place Oct. 13-15 in Saudi Arabia.

DP TOUR

On the European Tour, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will be taking place at the Old Course, one of the oldest and most famous golf courses in the world.

Ryan Fox will be defending his come from behind win from last year.

He entered the final day 4 shots down and ended taking home the championship.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood will be joining Fox in what promises to be a pretty good field at this year’s Dunhill.

To make the weekend a little special, Thomas Bjorn will be making his 600th career start.

LPGA TOUR

The Ascendant LPGA Benefitting Volunteers of America Tournament will be played this coming weekend, and this course can be challenging.

Last year, Charley Hull won despite the gusty wind on the first day, the fast greens the last 3 days, and the difficulty of reading the grainy greens.

Flexibility is the key on this particular course and Hull showed herself to be great when she needed to be.

Ryder Cup Domination

The Ryder Cup came and went, and the European team looked as dominant as they ever have.

After starting out with a 4-0 win in the Friday morning session, the European team went on to win the tournament by 5 points.

Even on Sunday, a day that the Americans generally play well on, the two teams tied at 6-all and the Americans could not even cut into the lead by a stroke.

The win was so dominant that new theories are being thrown around to try and figure out why Team Europe wins so often.

Maybe the most popular theory is that the Americans play a “selfish” brand of golf that highlights the player over the team.

In reality, that just sounds like golf to me.

It seems like, at least for this year, a much simpler issue was at hand…The European team was considerably better.

The best three European players dominated the tournament, especially Rory, and the best American could not bring home even one point.

NEW GOLF GEAR

Alignment sticks can help to improve your golf game as much or more than any other training tool or accessory on the market.

The Brand Fusion sticks last forever, are very colorful, and can be used for almost anything.

You can place them on the ground to help with alignment, practice swinging with them to loosen up your shoulders and arms, and even guide your swing through a particular plane so that you get used to how to swing a golf club.

There are many brands out there, but the Brand Fusion sticks look and feel great while also providing top notch performance.
