⛳️ Ryder Cup 2023

USA, USA, USA!

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

TOURNAMENT NEWS

PGA TOUR

The Ryder Cup is this weekend, and the golfing world will turn their eyes to one of the best competitions in the sport.

This year’s tournament takes place in Rome, Italy and features 24 of the best golfers in the world.

With Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlory, Viktor Hovland, and Patrick Cantlay all playing for their respective countries, the entire top-5 in the world will be playing, and most of the top-10.

The Ryder Cup is not only different because it pits the U.S. against Europe, but the layout of the tournament is different as well.

The tournament consists of 5 sessions: Friday and Saturday morning foursomes, Friday and Saturday afternoon four-ball, and Sunday features 12 singles matches pitting a European against an American 12 times.

It is different, fun, and exciting as the best players in the world go head-to-head.

LIV TOUR

There is no LIV Tour event this weekend.

DP TOUR

The Ryder Cup is the European Tour event this weekend as well as the PGA Tour event.

LPGA TOUR

The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P & G is happening this weekend on the LPGA Tour. T

he only thing more difficult to say than the name of the tournament is the name of the defending champion, Atthaya Thitikul.

Thitikul, at only 19 years of age, looks to add to her career earnings and move into the top-10 on the Rolex Tour, a feat she is sure to accomplish with even a decent showing this weekend.

Last year, with just five holes to go, there were 15 players within 5 shots of the lead, so look for this year’s tournament to be equally competitive.

Ryder Cup…Again

At every major championship, the Players, and the Ryder Cup, the entire golf world revolves around the weekend’s event.

This year’s Ryder Cup is sure to electric.

Some players that have been stalwarts on the European team are not eligible because they joined the LIV Tour and subsequently gave up their DP World Tour membership.

In fact, Brooks Koepka is the only LIV golfer who will be teeing it up this weekend.

The transition of professional golf is ongoing and very interesting, and the Ryder Cup is more evidence of that.

NEW GOLF GEAR

The Ping G430 hybrids are some of the most impressive hybrids on the market.

They are long, fast, forgiving, easy to hit, and they look great.

Players of all skill levels are starting to move to hybrids over long irons because they are so much more forgiving and easier to hit without losing much in terms of accuracy and ball flight.

The Carbonwrap technology being used in the new Ping drivers is also present in this hybrid which makes it ultra lightweight and gives you even faster swing speeds than before.

The sole sits flush with the turf for great aesthetics, not to mention the club just looks like you should be able to hit it and instills confidence immediately.

The crisp sound of a great shot that Ping is known for is present in these hybrids as well as you get immediate feedback with every shot.

Pros

  • Great aesthetics which instill confidence and look great in the bag.

  • One of the most forgiving hybrids on the market which means you can swing hard and know the club is going to help keep the ball straight.

  • Produces very fast ball speeds in part because of the Carbonwrap technology that keeps the weight down.

  • You get a high launch and a low center of gravity.

Cons

  • It is one of the most expensive hybrids you will find.

  • While it is long and straight, it is difficult to shape shots and work you ball around the course.

GOLF BIZ

Golf Is Great For Your Business

While this is not necessarily a “Golf Biz” topic, it is an important thing to remember, especially if you are in sales.

A golf outing is one of the best things you can do to build business relationships and sell consumers on your product.

A typical sales call lasts just a few minutes and you can only get as many facts out about your product or service as possible in a short amount of time.

A potential client on a golf course, on the other hand, is with you for hours and you have time to both build a relationship with the customer and sale him/her on the products you provide.
