⛳️ Srixon ZX5 MK II Driver Review...

More than just balls from Srixon

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Friday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

FRIDAY GOLF TIP

Dealing With Lost Distance As You Age

Bernhard Langer recently gave Golf.com his secret for dealing with a loss of distance as you get older.

Langer told Golf.com this to describe how to deal with losing some of your distance:

“If you lose distance, which area of the game can you still improve?” Langher continued, “Everyone is different, but I think most people can still improve their technique, the swing, their putting, their bunker play, their chipping. That has nothing to do with age. You don’t need strength or flexibility to be a better putter or chipper or bunker player or any of that, so you can improve in that area. Technique you can improve on. Has nothing to do with age.”

COURSE OF THE WEEK

Pine Valley Golf Club

Pine Valley Golf Club in southwest New Jersey is one of the best golf courses in the world.

Golfers who have played here say there is no weak hole as every tee box represents the beginning of a new experience and a new challenge.

It is said that, before Arnold Palmer became Arnold Palmer, he was challenged to break 70 at Palm Valley in his first round there.

After shooting a 68, he collected the money he made on his bets and walked out of the club house on his way to becoming one of the best professionals ever.

NEW GEAR MINI REVIEW

While Srixon is known best for their golf balls, they make a really driver as well. The ZX5 is one of their newest drivers, and it is a great combination of forgiveness and distance.

The driver has a huge head with a flattened and extended footprint that instills confidence as you are standing over the golf ball. It is a great driver if you struggle with launching the ball as you get a high and fast launch with each swing. The unusual, almost triangular shape of the driver gives you a high MOI and the carbon crown and rebound frame give it additional forgiveness.

Pros

  • It sounds and feels as good as any other driver on the market.

  • It produces a towering ball flight, even when you hit it off-center.

  • Adds good distance and ball speed, especially for players with a slower swing speed.

  • The carbon crown deepens the mass and pushes the MOI higher than most drivers.

Cons

  • Players with higher swing speeds will see the ball go too high and with too much spin.

  • It has a premium price but is not as good as some of the other drivers in this range.

Until Monday!
