⛳️ Srixon ZX5 MK II - Mini Review

A sleeper driver?

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the weekly edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

Dad Joke

Golf Or Church This Sunday

Dave showed up late to the golf course on Sunday and came very close to missing his tee time and making the others in his group do so as well.

He did not get to practice or warmup, but ran directly to the cart and drove to the first tee.

His friends asked him why he was running so late, and why it happened so often that he was late on a Sunday.

"Yes, well-being a Sunday, I had to toss a coin to see if I should go to church or go and play golf,” Dave said.

His friends responded, “Why would tossing a coin make you this late to the course?”

"I had to toss it 15 times!"

Golf Fashion

Puma Golf

Puma is one of the larger and more well-rounded brands on the list. While they do make golf specific polo shirts, they are not a golf company but an apparel company.

As an apparel company, their golf polo designs are a little more progressive and modern than what you find elsewhere.

While they are more known for their fashionable shoes and sportswear, their golf polos look great and function just as well.

Years ago, the style of Puma changed for the better.

They began experimenting with brighter colors and bolder designs and this change has worked well for the company.

Puma is especially popular with younger golfers as their designs are oftentimes loud and fit a little tighter than others.

This high quality and high fashion brand is a middle price point option.

NEW GEAR MINI REVIEW

The first thing you notice about the Srixon ZX5 MK II is its looks.

It has a big, but slightly longer and shallow head with a lot of club behind the face of the driver.

It looks aerodynamic enough to increase swing speeds but simple enough to remind you of the higher end clubs.

The simplicity of the design is great for a beginner and does not take away from the technology found inside.

Rather than using the carbon fibre that most drivers have, it features a special titanium alloy in the face that very thin and flexible with a thin titanium crown that could fit in the greeting card slots at Walmart.

This adds to the look and performance of the club.

The key to a more flexible face and hotter ball interaction is to get the rest of the head working with the club face.

The use of the titanium along with an accordion style of flexible and stiff regions of the club head help the entire club work together to give you that extra flex while maintaining a stable fee

Pros

  • Produces good ball speed.

  • The use of titanium rather than carbon in the crown makes the club look better and perform with more club face flex.

  • Sounds and feels great on contact.

  • The simple, elongated design of the club head is both aesthetically pleasing and helps with performance.

Cons

  • There is not a lot of adjustability in terms of weight or loft angle.

  • On the expensive side, especially for the features offered.

Until Next Week!
