⛳️ Sun Day Red

👍🏽 or 👎🏽

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the weekly edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

DAD JOKE

Use An Old Ball

Morris had been playing golf for years, and he had the finest equipment, but his technique never improved a bit.

As his friend watched, he teed up at the first hole and promptly drove a brand-new ball into the woods.

On the second hole, he drove another new ball into a lake.

On the third, he lost a new ball in another part of the woods.

"Why don't you use an old ball?" his friend Sam asked.

"I've never had an old ball," Morris said.

GOLF FASHION

Sun Day Red

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the latest news has been all about Tiger’s new brand Sun Day Red.

Tiger will no longer wear the Nike Swoosh, but he will still wear his “Sunday best.”

Tiger introduced his brand new logo and brand a few days prior to making his (rather unsuccessful) return to the PGA Tour.

The new brand is a deviation from his old ties with Nike and his new logo moves away from his former “TW” logo that was found on his old lines.

Sun Day Red is being done in conjunction with Tiger’s club sponsor TaylorMade, but they are not officially combining as Sun Day Red will maintain a separate identity.

There is not a lot to go on so far other than Tiger’s new brand is coming and it is yet to be seen if it will be as successful as his golf career.

NEW GEAR MINI REVIEW

One of the fastest and longest irons on this list, and maybe the most forgiving.

The P790 irons are a great club if you are just starting the move to player’s irons or if you are more of a mid handicapper that still needs some game improvement features because of how forgiving they are.

The hollow construction gives these irons the forgiveness and distance of a game improvement club, but the speed foam technology adds a lot of feel.

Speed foam technology is a very lightweight material that is injected into the club head to give it the feel of a forged club.

The ultra thin face of these irons makes the ball jump off at contact and produces some really high ball speed and distance.

The tungsten weight is no longer a disc, but a bar that runs from the heel to the toe and provides a high MOI and low center of gravity.

There is also an L-shaped steel insert in the face for more face deflection and increased forgiveness.

They are not as workable as some of the other irons on this list, but the distance they provide make them some of our favorites.

Pros

  • The ultra thin face produces a lot of ball speed making the P790 irons some of the longest and fastest irons out there.

  • High MOI and other forgiveness features make these irons great for mid handicappers as well as low handicappers.

  • Low spin rates make them long and accurate.

  • A very high launch angle.

Cons

  • Not as workable as many of other irons.

  • They do not hold greens as well as some of the other players distance clubs.

Until Next Week!
