Tiger and Rory's Latest Golf Venture

Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:

TOURNAMENT NEWS

PGA TOUR

The World Wide Technology Championship is starting Thursday at a Tiger Woods designed course in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Some of the bigger names teeing it up this weekend include Lucas Glover, Sahith Theegala, Ludvig Aberg, and Cameron Young.

Nobody inside the top-10 in the world, but plenty of golfers in the top-20 or 30.

Woods helped design the course so that golfers would have to make choices on each hole as to how to play, and to know that there is not necessarily just one way to attack each hole.

Our pick for the WWT is Lucas Glover. He had two wins last season and has been playing really good golf for a long time. If Glover does not play well, look for Cameron Young to shake off his version of the sophomore slump and start making his way up the leaderboards again.

LIV TOUR

The LIV Tour will not start again until sometime in calendar year 2024.

DP TOUR

The European Tour is taking the week off prior to returning to action on November 9 at the NedBank Golf Challenge.

LPGA TOUR

The TOTO Japan Classic will be played this weekend on the LPGA Tour in Omitama, Ibaraki, Japan.

Returning champion Gemma Dryburgh will be teeing it up with many of the other best players on Tour.

Some of those players include In Gee Chun, Danielle Kang, Yuka Saso, Hinako Shibuno, Jiyai Shin, and Hyo Joo Kim.

Look for Rose Zhang to continue her top notch play at the TOTO.

Zhang plays good golf almost every week, so choosing her to win is not really going out on a ledge, but she is playing so well she is hard to bet against.

TGL: Tiger and Rory’s Latest Golf Venture

The TGL is a new golf league that will feature 6 teams of 4 professional golfers.

It is a new, technology-focused sports company that will feature golfers playing on simulators until they get within 50 yards of each hole.

At that point, they will hit into and putt onto adaptable greens that change based on each hole with a system of hydraulic jacks and actuators.

It is something very new and different in golf than anything else being done.

In addition to the new format, there is a lot of star power behind the league.

There are backers like Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Steph Curry. Also, Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, and 20 of the top 24 players in the world have all agreed to play in the inaugural season.

NEW GOLF GEAR

The new Ghost Golf golf bags are lightweight, extremely functional, and come in a sleek design and great look.

The Saya bag weighs just 6.5 pounds even with the dual strap system, stand bag mechanism, velvet wrapped dividers, and numerous pockets and water bottle holders.

With the Ghost Golf Saya bag, you do not have to choose between form and function. It is one of the best looking bags on the market, but the real positives for this bag are all in its weight and function.

Will the TGL Succeed?

Can a new golf league succeed in the midst of the controversy surrounding the LIV, DP, and PGA Tours.

It probably can when it is started by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

It probably will when it is played on dates during the week when no other tournaments are being played.
