Coming Next Week - Our Thoughts on Sun Day Red
Hey fellow golfer, welcome to the weekly edition of the Red Birdie Golf newsletter, here’s what we got for you today:
Dad Joke
Working on a Slice
After a particularly bad round of golf, Robert decided not to go to the nineteenth hole [the clubhouse bar] and started to go straight home.
As he was walking to the golf car park to get his Range Rover, a policeman stopped him and asked’, Did you tee off on the seventeenth hole about twenty minutes ago?’
‘Yes’, Robert answered
‘Did you happen to slice your ball so that it went over the trees and out of bounds and completely off the golf course?’
‘Yes, I did. How did you know?’
Robert questioned.
‘Well’, said the policeman gravely, Your golf ball flew out onto the main road and crashed through the windscreen of a BMW. The car driver lost control and crashed into six other cars and a fire engine. The fire engine was unable to reach
the fire in time and the building burned down. Now, what do you intend to do about it?’
Robert thought it over very carefully and responded’, I think I’ll close my stance a little bit, tighten my grip and lower my right thumb.’
Golf Fashion
Next to Nike and Under Armour, there is not a bigger sporting goods brand in America than Adidas.
While they have not put as much marketing into golf as the other two companies have, their golf clothing is still top notch.
They make good shoes, shirts and pants for golf, but Adidas is really known for their shorts.
They make some of the best athletic shorts on the market, and they use much of that same technology to make a great pair of golf shorts.
In terms of style, Adidas is the more modern and vibrant of the 3 big sporting goods companies, but they still lean toward the more classic and traditional look especially compared to some of the their newer rivals. Their golf shorts are extremely comfortable and they come in a wide range of options, lengths, and fits. The price point is right in the middle of the pack though the quality and style is closer to the top which make Adidas golf shorts a great buy.
This high quality and high fashion brand is a middle price point option.
NEW GEAR MINI REVIEW
These wedges look, feel, and perform as well or better than any other wedge on the market.
One of the most unique characteristics is the center of gravity.
The higher the loft, the higher the center of gravity which provides some of the best trajectory and distance control on the market.
The thing that makes these clubs great is the effortless spin and distance that they provide.
They are perfectly weighted and designed so that you get maximum distance and a high launch regardless of swing speed.
The spin milled grooves provide a ton of friction so that the ball can stop on a dime.
There are graphite shaft options that provide great feel and some increased flex without losing any control or feel around the green.
These wedges will perform the best for players with an already established and consistent swing.
Pros
They look and feel great from the first touch.
Produce a ton of backspin and increased feel around the green.
They are weighted and designed well for full wedge shots.
The progressive center of gravity provides some of the best trajectory and distance control on the market.
Cons
A pure blade design with a smaller head makes it less forgiving and easier to mishit.
Made for more experienced golfers.
On the expensive side.
Until Next Week!
